Early Career (2014–2016)

DJ Brightstar first rose to prominence in 2014 while studying Political Science at Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa Campus, where he served as the institution’s official DJ. During this period, he also worked as a radio DJ at Raypower 106.5 FM, Port Harcourt, laying the foundation for his multifaceted career. In 2016, he joined Planet Radio 101.1 FM, Uyo as an in-house DJ and expanded his reach as a VDJ at AKBC Television, Uyo. Around this time, he became an affiliate DJ for notable artists such as Mish, Terry G, Iyanya, and Oritse Femi.

Rise to Prominence (2017–2018)

In early 2017, Brightstar was appointed the official DJ of Comfort 95.1 FM, Uyo, where he championed underground talents and collaborated with prominent Nigerian artists like 2Baba, Kcee, JMartins, Orezi, Harrysong, and Tekno as an affiliate DJ in the South-South region. His influence grew in 2018 when he won the VDJ 2018 Award and was recognized as the Best DJ in Uyo. That same year, he was nominated for the Paradise Music Festival Award as DJ of the Year. Additionally, he served as the official campaign DJ for Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, touring all 31 local government areas during the governorship campaign.

National Recognition (2019)

In January 2019, DJ Brightstar made history as the first Nigerian DJ to embark on a nationwide tour as the official Presidential Campaign DJ for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), covering all 36 states of the federation. Later that year, he won the Radio DJ of the Year Award 2019 alongside the Face of Valentine honor. In September 2019, he signed on as the official DJ for renowned Nigerian artist MC Galaxy, prompting his relocation to Lagos, a major hub for entertainment in Nigeria.

Expanding Horizons (2020–2021)

Brightstar’s versatility shone through in 2020 and 2021. He joined Lasgidi FM 90.1, Lagos as an Afrobeat in-house DJ in June 2021 and began working with rising artist Idahams as a promoter and DJ in November 2020. In March 2021, he teamed up with African superstar Skales in a similar capacity. Later that year, he served as the head DJ at Club Blowfish in Lagos, a role he held throughout 2021, further establishing his presence in the city’s nightlife scene. In November 2021, he released his debut hype song titled “Ode”, featuring popular media personality Do2dtun (The Energy Gad), solidifying his growing influence in the music industry.

Recent Achievements (2022–Present)

In January 2022, after multiple guest appearances, DJ Brightstar officially joined Inspiration 92.3 FM, Lagos as a full-time DJ. Recognizing the importance of education, he enrolled in a B.Sc. Mass Communication program at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Lagos Campus. In 2023, he took on the role of head DJ at Velvet in Victoria Island, Lagos a prominent venue, showcasing his continued dominance in the club scene. Currently, he is also collaborating with fast-rising artist Pryme, expanding his influence as a promoter and DJ.

Personal Life and Brand

Brightstar’s infectious energy and dedication to his craft have earned him the self-proclaimed title of “The Youngest Party Prince”. His journey reflects a blend of passion, resilience, and a commitment to growth both in entertainment and academics.
